Use of unauthorised drones banned across Nigeria
The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has banned the use of unauthorised unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) within the Nigerian airspace.
“The development of the use of UAVs nationwide has emerged with somewhat predictable safety concerns and security threats. Therefore with the preponderance of these operations, particularly in a non-segregated airspace, there has to be a proactive safety guideline,” said NCAA general manager, Sam Adurogboye.
Anyone who wishes to operate a UAV within the airspace now must seek permission from the NCAA before doing so.
