Travelport appoints new managing director for Africa

Travelport has announced its new managing director for Africa as Douglas Jewson.

Jewson has 20 years of experience in Africa’s telecommunications and electronics sector, and has worked in leadership roles at companies such as Sony, Research in Motion and Nokia.
He will be responsible for promoting the company’s position in airline merchandising, hotel content distribution, B2B payments and mobile travel commerce to customers across the region.
“At a time when Travelport is strengthening its presence in Africa, and air traffic and tourism is growing in Africa, I am excited to have this opportunity to lead the team in growing Travelport’s business and customers’ businesses in the region,” said Jewson.
Travelport has been present in South Africa for 20 years, and has had many accomplishments across the continent, including the opening of a new help desk in Kenya and the signing of key airline deals with Mango and Jambojet.
