Strategic partnership: Air Madagascar and Air Austral signed a MOU

The Memorandum of Understanding between Air Madagascar and Air Austral (the preferred bidder) was signed on April 4 2017, in Antananarivo.

The Malagasy authorities was represented by Gervais Rakotoarimanana, Minister of Finance and Andrianisa Mamy Jean-Jacques, Minister of Transport (p.i). The strategic partner was represented by Marie-Joseph Malé, Chairman and CEO of Air Austral.

Leon Rajaobelina, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Air Madagascar said: " This is an important step forward the formalization of a definitive agreement. We are convinced that this long-term partnership will restore the airline's fundamentals and will allow Air Madagascar to have a major role in the development of air transport at a national, regional and international levels. "

Marie-Joseph Malé, said: "This agreement marks a historic milestone for the future of Air Madagascar and Air Austral. We are determined to join our forces with Air Madagascar for the development of our two airlines. We are extremely proud of this agreement which comes after a quality process. "

Thirty companies have emerged at the beginning of this strategic partnership research process. Seven companies were selected to submit an offer. Today, the Malagasy government has entered the final phase of the negotiations, which will culminate in the signature of a strategic partnership agreement on May 31, 2017. All the process was carried out with the support of IOS Partners assisted by TroyAvi, with funding from the World Bank.
