South African Airways signs codeshare with with Avianca Brasil

South African Airways (SAA) has announced a codeshare agreement with Avianca Brasil, in order to offer passengers more Brazilian destinations.

SAA passengers will be able to travel from São Paulo on to destinations such as Brasília, Cuiabá, Curitiba, Recife, Rio de Janeiro and Salvador under the “SA” code.
Avianca Brasil passengers will be able to fly from these destinations through to Johannesburg under the “O6” code.
“Owing to the regional importance of South Africa and Brazil, as well as the BRICS trade relationship, the codeshare relationship between the two STAR Alliance carriers is of vital importance for the advancement of the broader development of Africa and South America,” said Musa Zwane, SAA, acting CEO.
The carrier currently operates ten weekly services to São Paulo from Johannesburg.
