Smart moves for Bombardier Q400s

Egyptian business aviation company is to purchase Bombardier Q400 dash 8 for its launch of scheduled services

Arabian Aerospace revealed in April that the business jet company is to create a new offering for regional markets using turboprop aircraft and utilising its FBO facility at Cairo's international airport.

The charter operator has close links with Egyptian legacy carrier EgyptAir and is seen as the official business operator in the country. It is now looking at regional flights for tourists and nationals moving between the various regional airports that are close to the tourist sites.

Although the aircraft will be based at Cairo, after an early morning and late evening flights, the rest of the day will be operated away from Cairo and between the different regional airports with a likely base being Sharm el Sheikh.

Smart considered both the ATR 72 and the Bombardier Q400, before electing for the Canadian aircraft on Thursday.

Details are likely to be reported this week.
