Royal Jordanian restarts Brussels services

Royal Jordanian has restarted its services between Ammam and the Belgian capital Brussels following a six year break due to "commercial reasons".

President Samer Majali said that putting Brussels back on the Royal Jordanian route network is driven by commercial reasons, too. He said that studies of the market indicated that it was feasible to reconnect Jordan and Belgium.

Majali added that re-operating this route also reflects the open skies policy signed by the two countries in July last year, which grants them the third and fourth freedom rights to operate between Amman and Brussels directly and with unlimited frequencies.

Initially the carrier will fly the route twice weekly on Saturdays and Wednesdays. Majali said that the flights "are boung to stimulate relations between Jordan and Belgium and facilitate transportation of businessmen and goods, as Brussels is a significant commercial centre in Europe. Moreover, it will serve the Jordanian and Arab communities residing in Belgium, and will boost tourism in both countries."

The airline will operate the Brussels route using Airbus A319s, two of its A319s are fitted with OnAir's mobile phone services.
