Royal Jordanian to be DHL Global Forwarding preferred carrier
Royal Jordanian and DHL Global Forwarding have signed an agreement that sees the Jordanian flag-carrier become the preferred carrier for the logistics company.
The agreement, signed by RJ Vice President Cargo Ingo Roessler and DHL Vice President Emerging Markets Airfreight Samer Kaissi, is effective for two years. As per the agreement, the forwarding agent will receive a preferential rate, based on reaching agreed business volumes.
“Royal Jordanian is committed to delivering a world-class product to its forwarding partners. We acknowledge DHL's strong market position and wish to strengthen this partnership further. After our investments in hardware, we are now looking to develop our business relationships for the long term,” said Roessler.
The carrier has been focusing on improving the quality of services for its cargo product during the last two years and invested heavily in the infrastructure of its cargo terminal at the hub station, Amman. The carrier is following the IATA initiative to prepare Jordan to become the first country in the Levant to apply electronic clearing of air cargo based on the IATA E-Freight initiative.
E-Freight in Jordan will bring new quality to the shipping community by the end of 2010, said the carrier.
