Quarterly Figures Reveal Net Losses For Four Leading U.S.-based Airlines

Figures published recently reveal that four top airlines in the U.S. reported net losses in the first quarter of 2022. 

American Airlines, Delta, United and Southwest all feature in the report.  American Airlines had an operating revenue of almost $9 billion in the first quarter of this year but more than doubled its turnover compared to Q1 in 2021. Its net result was a loss of just over $1.5 billion.

The airline is optimistic for an improved performance in the second quarter of 2022 based on current demand trends and the forecast for fuel prices. 

Delta Airlines net figure for Q1 2022 showed a loss of $1 billion while its revenue for the quarter amounted to just over $9 billion.
