Qatari CAA to house environment conference

Qatar's Civil Aviation Authority plans to host the Doha Arab Environment Conference under the banner of Blue Sky.

The conference is set to be held on May 6 and 7 in Doha and will uses the theme of Challenges and the Aviation Industry.

Attendees will be Arab civil aviation authorities as well as representatives from the EU and worldwide aircraft manufacturers.

Issues being addressed include an environmental perspective but will also discuss other important challenges such as risks of weather changes and the survival of civil aviation.

“We will also discuss many topics and highlight several important areas including the European Union Greenhouse Gas Emission Trading Scheme (EU ETS), shorter routes and the subject of alternative fuels”, a Civil Aviation Authority official told the Gulf Times.

The CAA has partnered with Qatar MICE Development Institute (QMDI) and an agreement to this effect was signed by CAA chairman Mohamed Abdulaziz al-Noaimi and Matthew Miridt, general director of QMDI Group.

Abdulaziz al-Noaimi said the conference would be attended by VIP guests, in addition to a huge number of researchers and people interested in the environment.

Fiona Simon, QMDI event director, said: “A team of specialists has begun work on this project as it will address the management of organising this conference” and that QMDI would make it a success.
