Poll: Are Forecasts by Some U.S. Airlines Of A Summer 2021 Recovery Realistic?
After a choppy start to 2021, Hawaiian Airlines expects to reach 75% to 85% of its 2019 capacity this summer, with its North American network driving the majority of growth.
It would be a significant bump for Hawaiian, which expects capacity during the first quarter to drop 50% compared with both 2019 and 2020 levels. The airline’s SVP of revenue management and network planning Brent Overbeek on Jan. 26 told analysts and investors that its first quarter capacity decline was 10 points worse than originally forecast, which was in part because of the rise in COVID-19 cases late in 2020.
