Oman Air opens new emergency response centre
Oman Air's new state-of-the-art Emergency Response Centre (ERC) received a “soft” opening on 7th December 2011.
The center, which replaces previous facilities, is located at the Headquarters 2 section of Oman Air Headquarters, and is equipped with the very latest emergency response equipment, enabling the airline to manage any crisis efficiently and effectively.
The senior management meeting room at the centre is fitted out with IT facilities and visual aids, including an interactive smart-board, projectors and televisions. A total of 17 senior management members can be seated for briefings at ERC.
Two adjoining rooms are designated as Emergency Response Center Support (ERCS), and can accommodate up to 15 management and staff members, who will coordinate and support the work of the ERC. In addition, the Emergency Response (ER) volunteer briefing room at the centre can accommodate up to 50 volunteers.
The ERC also has a storage facility for Go-Kit, which includes emergency supplies and equipment ready for dispatch to any location that is in need of emergency aid.
Oman Air’s Chief Executive Officer, Peter Hill, said: “Although an emergency centre was available for use previously, we would all agree that a modern, state-of-the-art centre of this nature is of paramount importance for a rapidly growing airline like Oman Air.”
Philippe Georgiou, chief officer corporate affairs added: “With the expansion of Oman Air’s frontline, the enhancement of its back-office capability is of the highest importance and our new ERC is a fine achievement.”
