Kuwait gets direct link to Bangkok

Thai Airways has launched direct flights to Kuwait after six years of Kuwait via Dubai to Bangkok operations. The first flight will touch down on March 29.

Speaking at the announcement yesterday Thai Airways’ Kuwait based general manager Jucksawat Kitisook said the Dubai stopover would be cancelled but the carrier would continue its Dubai services.

Coupled with its direct Kuwait link Thai Airways will increase the frequency of the scheduled service from three times a week to five times a week and is set to use Airbus A340-600s.

Anwar Al-Fadhel, general manager Sales Agent Kuwait said: “The new Thai Airways route is customised to better serve our customers from Kuwait. We have many clients from the Philippines and Indonesia and many other citizens from their neighbouring countries like New Zealand, Australia and more. Thai Airways is in a better position to serve since we are the number one carrier in Asia.”

Al-Fadhel is optimistic despite the current economic climate. He said: “The economic crisis will not last for long, the situation may change by next year, air traffic will resume normalcy again and it's good that the Thai Airways is ever ready to handle expected traffic growth.”

According to Al-Fadhel, the launch of a new route reflects the strong relations shared between the two countries and their unwavering cooperation. He added that the carrier plans to expand operations in the region.
