Kenya plans for US flights
Kenya plans to start direct commercial US flights later this year after meeting requirements set out by the United States Federal Aviation Administration.
Kenya Airways plans to launch flights to the United States as early as May this year, ch-aviation reports.
The launch plans come after Nairobi Jomo Kenyatta International Airport scored 88% on its ICAO USAP-CMA (Universal Security Audit Programme - Continuous Monitoring Approach) inspection.
The nation is aiming to boost exports to Washington and increase US tourists travelling in the country.
Transport minister James Macharia confirmed the aims to fly to the US, and affirmed that several airlines were interested in the route.
