Iran Air stops flights to Saudi amid Swine Flu fears
Iran Air is suspending all flights to Saudi Arabia to check the spread of H1N1 infections, according to a Gulf News report quoting alarabiya.net.
The spokesperson for the state-owned airline, Reza Jaferzadeh, said the move, which will take effect today, was aimed at limiting the damage from the virus.
The semi-official Iranian news agency Mehr quoted Ali Hussain Shahriari, deputy chairman of the health committee at the Islamic Shura Council, as saying that members of the committee reached an agreement with Health Ministry officials to stop pilgrims from performing Umrah during Ramadan taking into account the increase in H1N1 cases in the kingdom.
