Hussein Massoud named as new aviation minister for Egypt

The Chairman of the EgyptAir Holding Group and airline CEO Hussein Massoud has been sworn in as the new Egyptian minister of civil aviation

He was appointed in a new cabinet announced by prime Minister Kamal El Ganzoury

After accepting the responsibilities of the new position, Eng Massoud said “the priorities in the next period will be directed towards organizing the internal structure of the ministry and creating a homogeneous teamwork system”. He added “All the Ministry of Civil Aviation employees have full awareness, high knowledge and optimum loyalty to the aviation sector, the matter which certainly shall take part in overcoming this critical period.”

Massoud is a member of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) strategy and policy committee, as well as part of its nomination council and board of governors.

He is also the current chairman of African Airlines Association (AFRAA) and previously chaired the Arab Air Carriers Organisation (AACO) in the previous session.

It is not clear yet whether he will maintain his position with the industry association or with the government-owned national carrier
