Gulf airline could be in trouble after Pilgrims left stranded
A Gulf airline may be blacklisted for allegedly causing 2,500 Pakistani Umrah pilgrims to be stranded in Saudi Arabia, past their departure date, reported news agency Okaz.
The Ministry of Haj and General Authority for Civil Aviation (GACA) are looking into whether the airline has breached its commitment toward the pilgrims who should have been flown back as scheduled in their Umrah programme.
Many of the pilgrims stranded had confirmed return tickets, sources said. Foreign airlines and travel agencies are expected to issue non-refundable tickets to Umrah passengers, according to a Haj ministry advisory.
