Gulf Air reinstates 79 more sacked workers
Gulf Air employees who were sacked for failing to turn up to work during the uprising earlier this year have been reinstated.
At a meeting of Gulf Air's board of directors in Muharraq today 79 employees were reinstated - making a total of 136 who will return to work. The vote was unanimous
The move is part of steps being taken by the Bahraini Government to bring peace and normality back to the Kingdom. In a statement Gulf Air said: "The resolution was in line with the guidance of His Majesty King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa during his speech to mark the occasion of the Holy Month of Ramadan and the directives issued by His Royal Highness the Prime Minister Prince Khalifa Bin Salman Al Khalifa and with support from His Royal Highness Prince Salman Bin Hamad Al Khalifa the Crown Prince. The reinstatement also follows the instructions issued by the Head of the Committee on the Dismissed workers led by the Minister of Labor His Excellency Jameel Humaidan.
"The seventy nine employees returning to the airline met the criteria issued by a special review of the committee set up by the Ministry of Labor. The employees will be notified officially starting next week and are expected to return before the end of the month.
As well as looking at the case of the sacked workers, the board also discussed the progress of the airline’s turnaround strategy and its plan of action to make it the "airline of choice".
