Gallery: Olympic Liveries Show Team Spirit

Delta Air Lines unveiled its custom Team USA aircraft livery honoring the global carrier’s commitment to connect athletes with their dreams as the official airline of Team USA. The Team USA-inspired Airbus A330-900 celebrates Delta’s new eight-year partnership with Team USA, which runs through the LA28 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Delta revealed the new livery at an event on Dec. 17, 2021, hosted by Olympians Tara Lipinski and Johnny Weir near its global headquarters in Atlanta. As Team USA’s official airline, Delta will manage travel for US Olympians and Paralympians to Beijing 2022, Paris 2024, Milano Cortina 2026 and LA28.

All Nippon Airways (ANA) rolled out an Olympic 2020 special livery on a Boeing 777-200. Even though the games had to be rescheduled to summer 2021, this ANA 777 wore its livery proudly for more than a year.

Air Canada unveiled a special Tokyo Olympics 2021 livery on a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner. On the aircraft’s port side, “Fly The Flag” is written in big black and gold lettering. Meanwhile, on the other side of the aircraft, the same lettering reads “Haut Le Drapeau,” the French expression with the same meaning. On both sides, “Go Canada Go!” is written in all-gold lettering.

Japan Airlines (JAL) became a supporting partner for what was to be the 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games Tokyo, which was rescheduled for July 23-Aug. 8, 2021. This livery—featuring official Tokyo 2020 mascots Miraitowa and Someity—is part of JAL’s “Fly for it” campaign on domestic routes.

On March 20, 2020, the JAL Boeing 787-8 with a special livery began the Olympic Torch relay, which flew from Athens to Japan. Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic forced the summer games to be postponed until July 23, 2021.
