Amare-An Ode to Tomorrowland
Amare, an ode to Tomorrowland, was welcomed on Feb. 23, 2017 as the fourth Airbus A320 in the Belgian Icons series. Amare means: Live today. Love tomorrow. Unite forever. The design will bear its livery on this A320 until 2023.

When Amare joined the fleet it also offered a unique cabin design.

Bruegel-A Nod to Artist Pieter Bruegel
Bruegel joined the fleet in 2019. The airline’s youngest special livery is dedicated to one of the most talented artists of the 16th century, Flemish Master Pieter Bruegel the Elder. Moved and touched by the tough life in the countryside, Bruegel captured the life of the common man in a masterly fashion. The aircraft will remain in the fleet until 2024.

Magritte Bids Adieu
The aircraft that carried Magritte livery in tribute to Belgium surrealist artist Rene Magritte for five years, is being transformed into an aircraft in Star Alliance logo/colors, of which the airline has been a member since December 2009.

Magritte-Close up
After flying 6,403 flights and 8,371,324 km, Brussels Airlines waves goodbye to Magritte. In the past five years, 866,331 passengers got the chance to fly the aircraft covered with the famous clouds and birds taken from three of Rene Magritte’s paintings.

Rackham Repainting
This aircraft is still one of the most photographed planes in the world and has reached its repainting deadline. Moulinsart and Brussels Airlines agreed to prolong their partnership and restore the aircraft painting in its original state, meaning that Rackham will stay in the airline’s fleet for at least five more years.

Rackham Restoration
While the painting on the outside remains almost identical, the interior of the aircraft will be upgraded with more Tintin illustrations. With the renewal of its first Belgian Icon, Brussels Airlines confirms its continued ambassadorship for Belgium. Moreover, the airline aims at always counting at least five Belgian Icons in its fleet. Moulinsart studio, which adapted the original drawings to the unusual curves of an Airbus A320, will follow up on the repainting of Rackham’s fuselage with Brussels Airlines’ maintenance department. The restauration of the painting and adaptations of the interior is expected to be finished in June 2021.

Aerosmurf
In 2018, Aerosmurf joined the fleet. The Aerosmurf A320, which is dedicated to Belgium’s beloved small blue characters, the Smurfs, will carry its drawings until 2024.

Sporting a Trident livery
Trident remains dedicated to one of Belgium’s most popular sports: soccer. The popular livery will receive a partial repaint on the outside as well as an updated interior.

Trident-Inside Look
From May 25, 2021, the aircraft will fly with portraits of both the Red Devils and the Red Flames on the inside until it leaves the Brussels Airlines fleet in November 2022.
In 2015, Brussels Airlines launched a series of Belgian Icon special liveries that represent Belgium. These include Rackham, dedicated to the Belgian cartoon character Tintin; Magritte, in a nod to artist Rene Magritte; Trident, a livery celebrating the Belgium soccer team; Amare’s Tomorrowland Festival theme; The Smurfs, which was introduced in 2018; and in 2019 a special livery was dedicated to the famous Flemish painter Bruegel.
The airline announced May 6 that it will continue to operate five of six unique designed Airbus A320s, even though some aircraft needs repainting. Here’s a look at all six aircraft with their unique paintings, inside and out.
