Fastjet rejects shareholder's calls to remove Colin Child
Fastjet has asked its shareholders to reject Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou's calls to remove Colin Child from the board.
Haji-Ioannou has claimed that Child has failed to stabilise the carrier’s finances, and has taken too long to find new chief executive, Nico Bezuidenhout.
“The board firmly considers that a period of continuity and stability is essential following the appointment of the new chief executive and the numerous board changes that have occurred in the past year. I have worked closely with Colin over the past few months and I can say that Colin has continuously demonstrated his commitment to your company and sought always to act in the best interest of all shareholders,” said Rob Burnham, director, Fastjet.
A general meeting to vote on Child’s removal will take place on June 28.
