Etihad eyes up codeshare with Cyprus Airways
Abu Dhabi-based Etihad Airways has signed a MoU with Cyprus Airways which it says will pave the way for a codeshare agreement between the two carriers.
A codeshare agreement is expected to come into effect in September this year and will see Cyprus Airways place its CY code on Etihad’s flights between Larnaca and Abu Dhabi.
Etihad said the aim of the codeshare is to increase its presence through the greater cooperation with the Cyprus Airways, the Mediterranean island’s national airline.
Peter Baumgartner, Etihad Airways’ CCO said: “Since launching services between Abu Dhabi and Cyprus demand has continued to grow for Etihad Airways’ flights and we are therefore delighted to sign this MoU with Cyprus Airways which will support our expansion in this important market.”
