Ethiopian freighter 'written off' in Accra runway excursion
An investigation is underway into the loss of an Ethiopian Airlines 737 freighter which skidded off the runway at Accra on Saturday.
The aircraft registered as ET-AQV (msn 28493, ex N493AC/OO-VES), was operating for ASky Airlines and was on a flight from Lome to Accra.
Early reports from the airline suggest that tires had blown on landing. In a statement last night Ethiopian Airlines said the crew “safely disembarked the aircraft” after it had “skidded off the runway with flat tyres”.
The airline said the aircraft is an insurance write off.
