Embraer releases African market outlook
Embraer Commercial Aviation has released its market outlook for Africa, forecasting the delivery of 240 jets in the next 20 years.
The 70 to 130-seat jet fleet is expected to grow from 120 units to 260 by 2034.
“With right-sized aircraft, such as the E-Jets family, African carriers would be able to offer a better combination of capacity and frequency in core as well as low to mid-density markets,” said Simon Newitt, vice president, Latin America, Africa and Portugal, Embraer Commercial Aviation.
Embraer’s study also showed that 90% of city pairs have volumes of 300 daily passengers, but have current fleets of large capacity aircraft.
83% of intra-African flights have less than 120 passengers on board, with an average load factor of 68%, showing a use of too large capacity aircraft.
