EACS aircraft released from seizure
An A340-200 belonging to Libya's Executive Authority for Air Cargo and Special Flights (EACS) has been released from a seizure order by a French court in Perpignan, ch-aviation reports.
The court said the aircraft, recognised as a presidential jet, had diplomatic immunity and could not be seized.
Kuwaiti firm M.A. Al Kharafi and Sons confiscated the aircraft over a LYD1.2 billion (USD945 million) claim against the Libyan government awarded by an Egyptian court over a failed joint-venture partnership.
The aircraft is free to be returned but EACS must first settle outstanding bills of EUR3 million (USD3.3 million) to EAS industries for repairs.
