Dubai 2011: Bombardier happy to show off CSeries
Bombardier stressed the importance it puts on Middle East potential by using the Dubai Airshow to unveil its full-scale CSeries demonstrator fitted with cabin and flight deck.
“This is an amazing aircraft and this demonstrator lets people see for themselves how much space there is,” said Bombardier Aerospace president Guy Hachey.
The flight deck element of the demonstrator was added in order to show potential customers the advanced technology on the CSeries.
Chet Fuller, senior vice president, commercial aircraft said the ProLine Fusion system would impress any pilot, as would the comfort of the cabin and the aircraft’s fly-by-wire technology.
“This is the widest narrow-body on the market and the most efficient,” he said.
Fuller made a passing reference to news that Embraer is to re-engine its 175, 190 and 195 E-Jets. “Putting a new engine in an old airplane does not match a whole new airplane,” he said.
Hachey said the Middle East region was proving to be very important for Bombardier.
The Canadian manufacturer is opening a sales and marketing presence in Dubai and used the show to announce another sale success to the region.
Egyptian operator PAS became the first in the country to order the CRJ900.
Visitors to the Dubai show can see for themselves why the CSeries has been described as the most advanced jetliner in the growing 100-149 seat market.
As in a real aircraft, visitors can “board” the demonstrator and look at the spacious seating and large windows. Unlike a real aircraft they can also turn left and look at the flight deck technology on show.
