Dual role for Kamal at IATA as AFRAA moves AGA venue

Chairman of the EgyptAir Group, Capt. Hossam Kamal will have a dual role at this month's IATA annual general meeting.

Announcing the nomination for a joint representative, AFRAA also said it has moved its 44th Annual General Assembly (AGA), which had earlier been scheduled to take place in Bamako, Mali, to South Africa, after its Executive Committee reviewed the ongoing security and political situation in Mali. South African Airways will be hosting this year's AGA in a yet-to-be-named city in South Africa, with the dates remaining 18-20 November, 2012. The CEO of South African Airways, Siza Mzimela, is now the new President of AFRAA for 2012 and host of the 44th AGA, replacing Abdelrahmane Berthe, CEO of Air Mali.

AFRAA has also unveiled a new logo. In a statement it said the new logo “ is in keeping with the new and reinvigorated AFRAA under the leadership of Dr. Elijah Chingosho, was approved by the Executive Committee at its 157th meeting.” The organisation added it has changed focus with anemphasis on adding value to members and leading innovations and cost-reduction initiatives on behalf of airlines.
