Dash 8-400 cargo flight crashes in Somalia

A de Havilland Canada Dash 8-400 belonging to Nairobi-based regional airline Bluebird Aviation crash-landed yesterday in Beledweyne in Somalia while carrying humanitarian aid to the city following recent floods.

The cargo flight from Djibouti to Beledweyne Airport crashed and caught fire, with three crew members on board at the time - all managed to escape without sustaining serious injury.

A local who witnessed the crash said: “The plane crashed as it landed. We managed to rescue three people before it burst into flames.”
