EU Recommends Lifting Restrictions On Vaccinated Non-EU Travelers

The Council of the European Union has recommended that member states should lift restrictions on fully vaccinated non-EU travelers starting March 1, as it shifts toward a more person-centered approach to COVID-19 prevention.
Malaysia Airlines, Qatar Airways Deepen Cooperation

Oneworld alliance members Malaysia Airlines and Qatar Airways have buttressed their codeshare relationship by signing a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to engage in “strategic cooperation.”
Cyprus-headquartered AviaAM Leasing has detailed plans to grow its converted freighter fleet to 25 aircraft within four years. AviaAM said the conversions will span “different types.” No specific details of the fleet mix were given.

Soviet-Era Tu-134 Regional Jet Ends Commercial Operations In Russia

The iconic Soviet-era Tupolev Tu-134 regional jet has finally ended commercial operations in Russia. The last Russian civil operator of this type, Kosmos—a subsidiary airline of the Russian space agency Roscosmos—reported it had made two final flights on its Tu-134AK from Moscow Vnukovo airport on Feb. 19.
ITA Adds Three Routes, Secures Argentina Permission

Alitalia successor ITA Airways plans to launch flights from Milan Linate (LIN) to three European destinations after signing a wet-lease agreement with German Airways. Beginning March 28, the Italian carrier intends to begin serving Geneva (GVA), London City (LCY) and Luxembourg (LUX) using two Embraer E190 jets.
The FAA has published criteria and application instructions for $1 billion in airport grants included in the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law—part of a planned $5 billion in discretionary funding over five years that targets airport terminal improvements.
