Icelandair Optimistic About Electric Flying, Hydrogen-Powered Aircraft

Icelandair wants its short domestic flight routes and ample access to green energy to be at the forefront when it comes to energy transition in aviation. Icelandair signed two declarations of intent in 2021. One was with Universal Hydrogen, which has designed energy exchange equipment to turn Icelandair’s De Havilland Canada Dash-8s into hydrogen-powered airplanes. Credit: Kurt Hofmann

JetBlue Shrinks Summer Schedule Over Staffing Woes

JetBlue Airways is blaming staffing shortfalls for a decision to cut back its planned schedule for May and the rest of the summer, following a weekend that saw it cancel hundreds of flights because of crewmember shortages. New York-based JetBlue canceled more than 300 flights over the weekend, including 191 flights, or 18% of its total, on April 9, according to data from Flight Aware. A further 151 flights, or 13% of its total, were canceled on April 10. Credit: JetBlue
