WORLD ROUTES: Línea Aérea Carguera de Colombia Debuts Boeing 777F in Colombia

Línea Aérea Carguera de Colombia, a subsidiary of LAN Cargo, took delivery of its first Boeing 777F at Bogota’s El Dorado Airport during September and the aircraft has already been introduced into service on flights from the Colombian capital to Amsterdam and Miami. The arrival of the modern generation aircraft, the first of its kind in the Colombian market, will significantly enhance the offering to the local industry and will concentrate its operations on the flower transport sector.

"Delivery of this aircraft confirms Línea Aérea Carguera de Colombia’s commitment to the Colombian market,” said Pablo Canales, Executive Director of Línea Aérea Carguera de Colombia. “Colombia’s air freight sector is highly competitive due to the importance of the flower industry, but at Línea Aérea Carguera de Colombia we hold a competitive edge: 33 per cent of sector market share. The 777F allows us to increase service to 6 flights to Europe, as well as maintain our third daily flight to Miami.”

Línea Aérea Carguera de Colombia has a projected growth of 26 per cent in 2012 (as compared to 2011 indicators/results). It also expects increases of 19 per cent in exports and 76 per cent in domestic market share. Investments such as the new B777F will support its goal to transport more than 98,000 tons of cargo by the end of 2012 (around 81,600 tons of exports and 16,784 tons of domestic freight).

The acquisition of this Boeing 777F dovetails on to Línea Aérea Carguera de Colombia’s renovation of its warehouse facilities in 2011, which resulted in 6,050 square metres of additional space being available at El Dorado Airport.
