WORLD ROUTES: Chicago Rockford Pushes For Southwest Florida Link

The management of Chicago Rockford International Airport have revealed they are working hard to secure a new air service for this coming season to and from Ft Myers, Florida. According to Mike Dunn, Director, Chicago Rockford International Airport there have been “non-stop discussions and negotiations” but as yet no formal agreement has been reached.

“Right now I feel confident that we will have service available to and from Ft. Myers starting in the first half of December and running through mid April 2013,” he confirmed in a note to frequent flyers. “If successful, this service will be a minimum of two round trips per week in the slower weeks and as high as four to five round trips per week in the height of season.”

According to Mike Dunn, “there is no issue more important to the airport at this point than being able to secure service to Southwest Florida”. It is expected to make an announcement by the end of this week as to whether an agreement will be reached.
