The Routes Airport Marketing Awards were created in 1997 to recognise excellence in airport marketing as rewarded by airlines. Today these awards are the most highly regarded in the industry and are voted for and judged by airlines.
Voting for the 2012 World Routes Awards, which this year will be sponsored by OAG, opens today and for those who feel they would like to be considered for an Award in Abu Dhabi the procedure is simple; campaign your airline contacts and ask them to vote for you on our website here.
Airlines should consider airports whose marketing efforts, over the last 12 months, have made a real impact on their future network development plans when deciding who to nominate. The airport’s market research activities, marketing communications, business case presentations and joint communication campaigns with third parties should all be taken into account when voting.
Once the airline network planning community has voted, the votes will be counted and the shortlisted airports contacted and asked for a submission to support their nomination. This submission process is designed to enable the shortlisted airports to provide information for the judging panel as to why they think they should win the award, providing evidence to support their case.
This year there will be 5 main Airport Award categories split by region as follows:
- Americas
- Asia
- Europe
- CIS
- Africa
Automatically shortlisted in each category will be overall winner of each of the regional heats which took place earlier this year; Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, Darwin International Airport, Brussels Airport, Saint Petersburg International Pulkovo Airport and Ghana Airports Company respectively.
The Airport Marketing Awards this year will also include a special award for Airports Under Four Million Passengers and during the ceremony presentations of a Tourism Award and the ORBIS Award for Social Responsibility will also take place.
Winners of these highly regarded awards will be announced during a ceremony which will take place at the Abu Dhabi Networking Evening on Monday 1stOctober at the Yas Marina Circuit, home of the F1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix racing circuit, secured exclusively by our hosts Abu Dhabi Airports Company.
Vote now and play an important role in deciding which airport wins one of these widely sought after accolades. Voting will remain open until Friday 24th August 2012 and shortlisted airports will be announced shortly after this deadline.
