WestJet Prepares New Codeshare Partnership with Asian Carriers

Canadian low-fare carrier WestJet is preparing for new codeshare partnership with Asian carriers between late-May and early-June, as it has secured approval from US Department of Transportation and Canada Transport Agency for these deals.

As early as 31MAY12, WestJet will begin codeshare partnership with Skyteam member Korean Air, covering WestJet's Domestic Canada and Canada - US Routes. Following WestJet Routes and certain flights will display Korean's "KE" code:

Starting (as early as) 04JUN12, WestJet will embark on codeshare partnership with China Eastern, also a Skyteam member, which the latter's "MU" code appearing on Domestic Canada flights.

Note planned effective dates remains subject to change, pending on necessary steps in the GDS to enable codeshare reservations.
