Virgin Atlantic eyes bmi tie up
Virgin Atlantic, which is interested in buying bmi, has confirmed it is in talks with Lufthansa, the airline's majority owner about the future of the airline.
"These discussions may or may not lead to an agreement and a further announcement will be made in due course," Virgin Atlantic said in a statement.
But its chief executive, Steve Ridgway has said a tie up with bmi would put Virgin in a good position to compete with BA at Heathrow.
Meanwhile, the carrier has also ordered 15 Boeing 787 Dreamliners with an additional option to acquire a further eight.
