US discontinues Toronto link

Star Alliance carrier, US Airways, has revealed that it will discontinue its non stop scheduled service from its major west coast base of Phoenix to Toronto Canada. US Airways will stop serving Pearson from 28th february 2010. Currently the airline operates YYZ on a daily basis with A319 equipment.

However, Star Alliance partner Air Canada also operates between the city pairs on a daily basis with a mix of A319, A320 and A321 equipment. It is thought that there is potentially too much capacity in the market, especially during a recession where airlines are fighting against falling yields. US Airways passengers will still be able to access Toronto through Phoenix with the codeshare agreeemnt that is in place with Air Canada.
