Tuesday World Routes Special - Top Airline Line-up At Global Summit

British Airways' director of strategy and business units, Robert Boyle, was among the panel of airline experts tackling issues such as labour challenges, consolidation and the state of the global economy during yesterday afternoon's ‘hard talk' session of the ICAO/World Bank/Routes Global Aviation Strategy Summit (GASS) in Vancouver.

Boyle was questioned on BA's labour issues and remarked: "British Airways has had to be very clear with our staff that we are not only responding to the cyclical impact of the downturn but we are also having to tackle structural change. Many of out competitors don't have the same legacy costs that we do. There was a clear realisation from our staff of the challenges we are currently facing but we also have to make it clear that there wont be a return to the good old days for any legacy carrier."

GASS is taking place today from 09:55 until 17:00 in Ballroom A, Level 1 of the Vancouver Convention Centre.
