As Delhi prepares to host the 2010 Commonwealth Games in October, India's airports, airlines and tourism authorities have come together under ‘one banner' to develop new national links during this year's World Routes.
Prashant Sukul, joint secretary of the Government of India's Ministry of Civil Aviation, told the Hub Daily that World Routes came at a crucial time with the recent opening of Indira Gandhi International Airport's Terminal 3 providing a hub for a surge in passenger travel ahead of the games.
"So far India's airlines, airports and tourism authorities have been coming to Routes independently, we have been able to get them together under one Indian banner," said Sukul.
"Routes comes just before Delhi's hosting of the Commonwealth Games with Dehli Airport having just opened its new terminal, which will be a hub facilitating travel into the interior of the country, along with Incredible India marketing the destination here at Routes and the airlines that are going to carry the passengers."
