ThrowBackThursday: Royal Brunei's Dreamliner Debut

This week we’re looking at a story we released on November 6, 2013 about Royal Brunei and their first Dreamliner 787 aircraft delivery. Here's the original story... 'Royal Brunei Launches 787 'Betterfly' Product'.

Last year at the World Travel Market, Royal Brunei announced its plans to become the first airline to offer a 787 Dreamliner service across its entire long-haul network by April 2014.

The airline planned to commence its first long-haul Dreamliner route on December 2, 2013 on its London Heathrow – Dubai – Bandar Seri Begawan route.

In January and February, Royal Brunei planned to receive two more Dreamliners, which were to be deployed on its Australia service.

A year on, and we can see that Royal Brunei commenced its inaugural Dreamliner flight on its Bandar Seri Begawan - Singapore route on October 18, 2013 with flights to Kuala Lumpur commencing on November 1, 2013.

The airline’s first Dreamliner scheduled route launched on December 2, 2013, on its Bandar Seri Begawan – Dubai – Heathrow route, exactly to the original planned schedule date.

The airline launched its second long-haul Dreamliner route the following April on its Melbourne - Bandar Seri Begawan – London Heathrow with the daily service replacing the previous Boeing 777 route.

Throughout the summer, the airline served Dubai, Hong Kong, King Abdulaziz (Saudi Arabia), Kuala Lumpur, London Heathrow, Melbourne, Singapore and a single route to Manila which recommences next month.

The airline currently has four Boeing 787 Dreamliner’s in operation and airline currently serves five destinations using its 787 Dreamliner aircraft including Dubai International Airport, Kuala Lumpur, London Heathrow, Melbourne and Singapore.

To mark the inaugural flight of Royal Brunei's 787 Dreamliner from London Heathrow, it created a light-hearted film showcasing a celebratory cake being assembled, mimicking the build of the Royal Brunei 787 Dreamliner. You can see it, below:
