Tampa International Airport, located in one of America’s fastest-growing areas, has seen a positive surge in passenger volumes. Welcoming over 24.5 million passengers for FY 2025, TPA is projecting a 3% growth for the same period this year following a range of new route launches.

The airport’s Latin American and Caribbean network has expanded in the last 12 months with JetBlue inaugurating its daily year-round service to Punta Cana, complementing the seasonal service from Frontier. Earlier in the year, Avianca began 4x-weekly nonstop service between Tampa and Bogota, which has since expanded to a daily service. The Bogota route marked the first nonstop service from TPA to South America, serving the 36,000 Colombian-born residents in the Tampa Bay region.

Connectivity to Panama has also become more accessible as Copa expanded its services to Panama City (PTY) to 12x-weekly.

In 2025, both WestJet and Air Canda operated summer seasonal service to Vancouver International Airport (YVR), previously the airport’s second-largest unserved destination and WestJet also chose to expand its Calgary service from seasonal to year-round, showcasing the demand for Canadian markets.

With growth potential and rapidly increasing demand, Tampa International Airport (TPA) presents a unique and untapped opportunity for airlines to expand their international networks. Data reveals that approximately 50% of international O&D traffic currently opts for other Florida airports instead of TPA, highlighting a significant market gap that airlines can capitalize on by establishing or enhancing their presence at TPA.

As a member of Routes 360, the only digital platform dedicated to route development, TPA has uploaded multiple route opportunities to its profile.
