Swiss Expands at Basel EuroAirport

SWISS EUROPEAN AIR LINES has entered into an operational partnership with BMI BRITISH MIDLAND INTERNATIONAL on flights from Basel's EuroAirport to the UK, freeing capacity to enhance its network. The arrangement with its Star Alliance partner will see bmi take over Swiss' flights to both London and Manchester from 27MAR11, increasing capacity at the same time by using Airbus A319s on the routes offering 47 more seats per sector than the Avro RJ100s Swiss had previously utilised. At the same time the London route will be moved from City to Heathrow to accomodate the larger aircraft.

Swiss will use its free RJ100s to launch a six-times weekly Basel – Copenhagen service and a daily Basel – Rome route, as well as increasing Basel – Barcelona frequencies to eight a week and Basel – Hamburg flights from daily to 12 weekly.
