This week the HUB focuses on the extensive programme of briefings taking place at World Routes in the Routes Talks Tourism Theatre which will play host to a series of Ministerial Destination Briefings and presentations from major tourism destinations or travel organisations. Here we list some of the highlights:
International Council of Tourism Partners - New World New Connectivity (Sunday 30 September, 14:00 – 14:45)
Moderated by Geoffrey Lipman, this session will take the form of a panel discussion on "New World - New Connectivity" We will explore the surge in the BRIC markets and the global mega-hubs in the Gulf as well as the opportunities they present. We will also discuss how this development will affect Tourism and Aviation marketing and promotion and look at some novel financing opportunities. Participants can expect to engage in an interactive exchange, which picks up emerging trends and identifies some new funding options.
TTG Digital - Is the UK’s aviation policy in danger of turning it into a third world country? (Sunday 30 September 15:00 – 15:45)
With London 2012 Olympics having provided a new shop window on the UK, the opportunities for tourism, both into and out of the UK, have never been greater – but is the UK government’s questionable attitude to aviation in danger of holding it back? Richard Branson has said that the UK is in danger of becoming a “third world country” unless the coalition gets real on airport capacity and air passenger duty.
Daniel Pearce, Brand Director of TTG Media, will sort the truth from the headlines in a presentation underlining:
• The current state of the UK’s policy
• How is it affecting tourism – both inbound and outbound – including the latest statistics from Abta
• What’s being done about it – political movements, and the Fair Tax on Flying campaign
• How airlines can work with the UK to grow their business.
TripAvdvisor (Sunday 30 September 16:00 – 16:45)
TripAdvisor has become a true global success story in changing the way that we research travel and is now pushing deep into the Mobile & Social space.
“Big Data” is a current hot topic for the immediate future of consumer brands, and in this session we’ll see how Big Data from TripAdvisor means giving you a wealth of on the ground insight into effectively “which destinations the world’s population are planning their travels to”. Tapping into TripAdvisor’s vast global traffic we shall examine; which destinations are growing in interest, how this splits by source visitor market and how this can be a useful source of information when planning both new routes and in marketing those destinations.
This will be a very different perspective on a brand we all know.
In addition to the Sunday programme will be many other ministerial briefings taking place throughout the event including:
