SQ ramps up frequency on trunk route

Singapore Airlines has announced that it will increase its scheduled services on its Singapore Hong Kong route to a 7x daily operation. The increase in frequency will become effective from May 27th on on a route where SQ competes with the following carriers;

  • Cathay Pacific- 35x weekly
  • Tiger Singapore - 14x weekly
  • Jetstar Asia - 14x weekly
  • United Airlines (operating a 7x weekly double drop)

The route has seen over 1.6 million O+D passengers between Feb 09-10, with Cathay leading the way with a 49% market share. Singapore Airlines currently has a 33% market share.
