Ryanair suspends Cornwall flights

Ryanair has cancelled all its flights from Newquay Airport until March in a dispute with the local authority over the airport’s closure.

The airline has suspended its Newquay–Stansted service until March 2, after Cornwall County Council closed the airport when it failed to secure a license from the UK’s Civil Aviation Authority.

Ryanair spokesman Stephen McNamara said: “The unscheduled closure of Newquay Airport, due to the inability of the Keystone Cops of Cornwall County Council to secure the relevant license to operate and their inability to unequivocally confirm when the airport will reopen, has left Ryanair with no choice but to suspend all services to and from Newquay until March 2.”
