Routes Europe: Toulouse welcomes representatives from 80 carriers

Jean-Michel, Vernhes, chairman of Toulouse-Blagnac Airport, welcomed over 700 delegates to Routes Europe this morning at the event’s official press conference.

With over 30 international and local publications and broadcasting outlets represented, he said: “For Toulouse-Blagnac Airport, Routes Europe is a major event, especially as this is the year of the opening of the new terminal, Hall D, dedicated to European and international traffic. Routes Europe offers us the opportunity to stimulate the opening of new routes, which can be accommodated by the new capacity.”

Toulouse-Blagnac Airport’s strategy and development manager, Catherine Gay, added that her airport was busy negotiating a number of potential new routes, which, if they are agreed, will be announced in early June.

There are over 80 airlines and 300 airports represented by delegates at this year’s event. First time attendees include Dniprovia, Europe Airpost, Lufthansa Italia, Spanair and Gulf Air. There will be between 10,000 and 15,000 one-to-one meetings held during the two-day event.

Later today and tomorrow there will also be Routes Exchange-Airline Requirement Briefings from Ryanair, Lufthansa Italia and Spanair, which gives these carriers the opportunity to update airports on their future network plans and what types of information they require from potential gateways and bases.
