ROUTES ASIA: Taipei Taoyuan Offers e-Library Service to Passengers

There is nothing worse than being trapped in an airport departure lounge with nothing to do. Whether your flight has been delayed or you simply have a long transit you can quickly become bored with the limited supply of shops and restaurants on offer. Well, airports are now looking at new ways to keep passengers occupied and at the same time boosting ancillary revenues. Taipei’s Taoyuan International Airport has found a novel way of keeping the boredom at bay by launching the world’s first in-transit e-library. The facility, which opened earlier this month is located near gate C5 in Terminal 2 and features around 30 iPads and e-readers that each have around 400 titles. It also offers around 2,000 regular Chinese and English language books, newspapers and magazines for old-school aficionados.
