ROUTES AFRICA: Air Austral Boosts Links to Paris

Air Austral is to boost flights from the island of Reunion and the French capital this winter operating eight non-stop flights per week between St. Denis de la Reunion and Paris CDG. This route was operated last winter on a daily basis. The additional rotation will be flown every Saturday, meaning the carrier will offer a daylight flight to Paris in addition to its regular overnight schedule.

An estimated 191,000 O&D passengers travelled on the route in the past year with Air Austral accounting for around 93 per cent of this traffic. The market has declined slightly in the past year with numbers slipping by around 6.3 per cent, but with additional capacity Air Austral will attempt to reverse this decline.

Elsewhere, Air Austral is also to modify the schedule of its twice weekly Moroni – Dzaoudzi service to improve connections with its new direct links from Dzaoudzi to Marseille and Paris. The airline will offer three flights per week to Paris CDG, one of which will operate via Marseille, from the end of October using its new Boeing 777-200LRs.
