With the last of our 2012 regional event now behind us it is time to look forward to the 18thWorld Route Development Forum which is just over two months away. Registrations are coming in thick and fast for the event, which will take place in Abu Dhabi 29thSeptember to 2ndOctober. Here the HUB provides you with an event update.
Already there are 286 airline delegates registered to attend representing 182 of the world’s airlines and both Oneworld and Star Alliances in attendance. A strong participation of European flag carriers including KLM, Air France, Lufthansa, SAS, LOT Polish, Turkish Airlines and Swiss International Air Lines will be in attendance as well as European low cost carriers easyJet, Air Berlin and Norwegian.
From the Americas all four major US carriers are already registered; American Airlines, US Airways, Delta Air Lines and, the World’s largest airline, United Airlines along with Latin American carriers Aeromexico and COPA Airlines.
A strong Chinese presence will be in Abu Dhabi with registrations received from China Southern, Hainan Airlines, Air China and, most recently, China Eastern. Other major carriers from the Asia region who have confirmed their attendance include Malaysia Airlines, Philippine Airlines Japan Airlines, All Nippon and Vietnam Airlines.
From the Middle East all the major carriers will be represented including Etihad, Emirates, Qatar Airways, Gulf Air, RAK Airways and FlyDubai along with smaller carriers Bahrain Air and Air Arabia the latter attending Routes for the first time.
Attendance from the cargo sector is also strong this year with registrations received so far from the two largest, UPS and FedEx and others such as Finnair Cargo, Air China Cargo, Saudi Cargo and Turkish Airlines Cargo.
To date nearly 600 delegates representing 354 airports have registered to attend World Routes in Abu Dhabi including first time attendees Aqaba Airports Company and Bremen Airport. Other recent airport registrations include Los Angeles World Airports, Dalian Zhoushuizi International Airport, Qingdao Liu Ting International Airport, Ancona Airport, Chicago Rockford International Airport, Melbourne Airport, Sheremetyevo International Airport, Bristol Airport and Kilimanjaro International Airport amongst many, many others.
This year’s event also promises a strong participation from tourism authorities with recent registrations including Cyprus Tourism, Turismo De Tenerife, Hawaii Tourism Authority, Malta Tourism Authority and first time attendees Ghana Tourist board and the Malawi Ministry for Tourism.
