Earlier this week the ORBIS Flying Eye Hospital (FEH) landed in El Salvador, its final programme before it travels to the Middle East and to World Routes in Abu Dhabi.
The Team are currently saving sight in El Salvador, where only 15% of the rural population has access to visual health services, whilst promoting the issue of eye care and helping to improve services available through hands on training.
You can see photos and find out more about the FEH’s work in El Salvador here before you meet the team at World Routes when the converted DC-10 aircraft will be displayed at Al Bateen Executive Airport. You can register for one of the delegate tours on offer at World Routes here. These exclusive tours will allow you to see the operating room, lecture theatre and audio visual suite up close whilst also meeting the team that travels the world to bring training and treatment to developing countries.
This visit to Abu Dhabi marks the current Flying Eye Hospital’s last to the Middle East, as the third ORBIS Flying Eye Hospital, an MD-10, will take to the skies in 2013. As our official charity partner, Routes is working with ORBIS to raise funds for the next generation Flying Eye Hospital.
