Royal Air Maroc Ups North American Capacity

080710 RAM americasMorocco's flag carrier Royal Air Maroc (RAM) will increase its existing capacity into New York JFK and Montreal, to seven and eight times weekly flights respectively from Casablanca. RAM is currently the only carrier flying between these city pairs.



Frontier Airlines Beefs Ups Kansas City-Austin

Frontier Airlines has announced new non-stop service from Kansas City to Austin in Texas.

The new flights will be effective from November 18 with six flights a week using E-170s equipment.

Frontier already serves Austin from its Denver base on a 21-times weekly basis. IATA BSP data shows that over 87,000 passengers flew the Kansas City-Austin sector between April 2009-2010. Of this traffic, 42% flew on Southwest via Dallas Love Field.


Barbados Signs US Open Skies Agreement

Barbados and the USA have entered an open skies agreement to facilitate potential new routes.

According to the agreement, carriers now have access to new routes and destinations, as opposed to restricting markets and frequencies as the previous air services agreement did.

Currently only American Airlines, US Airways and JetBlue operate scheduled services into Barbados from the US.

IATA BSP data shows that between April 2009-2010, American Airlines carried 70% of the O&D market between Barbados and the US.


Continental to Serve Egypt

080710 contyStar Alliance member Continental Airlines has announced its intentions to start daily non-stop flights to Cairo from its New York Newark base, subject to regulatory approval.

The carrier aims to serve Cairo from May 18, 2011 - its third international destination announced since May.

The other new services are a daily service from Houston to Lagos, Nigeria from November 10 2011 and to Auckland from November 16 - both subject to government approval.

Delta Air Lines and Egyptair currently serve Cairo from New York JFK.


Direct Links For San Diego & Mexican Resort

Alaska Airlines will start a new service from San Diego to the Mexican resort of Puerto Vallarta from November 12, 2011.

There are currently no scheduled services between San Diego and Puerto Vallarta, however Alaska Airlines does fly to Puerto Vallarta from Los Angeles and San Francisco on a daily basis.

IATA BSP data shows that most traffic between San Diego and Puerto Vallarta is transiting via Phoenix with US Airways.
