Nassau to Host Routes Americas 2012

Nassau Airport Development Company will be welcoming the route development community from North, Central, South America and the Caribbean to the Bahamas in February 2012 as the host of the fifth Routes Americas event. The formal announcement was made earlier today at this year’s regional event in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, the only air service development event for all the Americas

Stewart Steeves, President & Chief Executive Officer, Nassau Airport Development Company, said: “We are very excited to have the opportunity to host the 2012 Routes Americas Forum and to be able to receive and entertain delegates from everywhere. Nassau is the capital of The Bahamas and is home to a vibrant tourism sector as well as a thriving financial services sector.”

Nassau Lynden Pindling International Airport is looking to increase its facilities to accommodate the significant rise in passengers travelling to the airport. In 2006, they entered into a 10-year management agreement with YVR Airport Services Ltd who have been charged with managing, operating and redeveloping the airport. Hosting Routes Americas provides the ideal platform through which both to highlight the qualities of the destination to the route development community and to show delegates the progress that has been made in their expansion project.

Dave Stroud, Senior Vice President of Routes, said: “Hosting an event at an airport right in the midst of a massive development project provides an excellent opportunity to give delegates a first-hand experience of what such a task involves, and I am confident that the 5th Routes Americas will leave a big and positive impression with delegates”.

The official handover took place earlier today (February 15), and ahead of the announcement, Andrew O'Brien, Chief Executive Officer, Aerodom said: "Hosting this event has been a fantastic experience for us - it is like a dream come true." This view was echoed by Dave Stroud who told The Hub Daily. "The hospitality here in the Dominican Republic has been truly exceptional and the event truly memorable for all."Nas
